5.3.4 Describe the cause, transmission, and effects of one human bacterial disease.

The transmission of Salmonella is through the contact of animal or human feces or by the ingestion of poultry or products with eggs in them, such as mayonnaise or ice cream, that have been undercooked or left raw. The cause of this disease is that the Salmonella bacteria colonizes the small intestine and releases exotoxins that disrupt cellular metabolism. The effects of Salmonella are vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain for about 48 hours. Recovery time is around 2-3 days.
